The expanding storage boxes were developed to reduce sample handling time in medical and scientific laboratories. Typically, cold storage samples are stored in boxes from which as many as 144 vials would need to be transferred to a working rack which separates the vials to prevent cross-contamination and improve sample manipulation. The goal of this project was to be inspired by a Hoberman sphere and create a solution which would span storage to working and back in one product. This product has United States Patent US20130330254A1.

DRAWING PACKAGE

After several prototypes were evaluated, the design was finalized and a Bill of Materials and drawing package for each part was developed to ensure critical dimensions were maintained.
